These are the questions we hear most from water heater, plumbing and HVAC contractors, answered plainly. The full answers are in the question list on this page. Below, we expand on the four topics that come up most often in conversations, and point to where you can read more.
Frequently asked questions
What is WaterHeaterNews.ca?
A Canadian newsroom and digital marketing service for contractors who sell, rent out or replace water heaters. It is part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group, run from Vancouver under Ali Sedighi, MBA.
Are you a plumbing or HVAC contractor?
No. We do not install, repair, service, rent or sell any equipment. We report on the industry and provide marketing and business consulting to contractors.
How much does marketing cost?
Monthly plans run $2,998 (Starter), $4,498 (Growth) and $8,998 (Elite). One-time website builds cost $3,500, $6,500 or $12,500, with hosting billed monthly. Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus GST/HST at your province's rate.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. There is no lock-in, and things like notice periods are spelled out in your written proposal so you can read them first.
How long before I see results?
Paid search can produce calls within weeks of launch. Local SEO and content usually take several months to show meaningful gains. We report monthly so you can see the trend either way.
We tried an agency before and it did not work. Why would this be different?
We cannot speak for another agency. What we can do is show you named, checkable results, measure cost per booked job rather than clicks, and give you full ownership of your accounts so you are never stuck.
Who owns the website, Google Business Profile and ad accounts?
You do. We work inside accounts in your name, and the content we create for your site is yours.
What will reporting look like?
Starter includes monthly reporting, Growth adds weekly reporting and Elite adds a real-time dashboard and custom reports. Reports focus on calls, booked jobs and cost per job.
Can you promise rankings or a number of leads?
No. Nobody can honestly promise rankings or leads. We share real past results from our HVAC work and set measurable targets with you.
Where do your news stories come from?
From primary sources we load ourselves: government and regulator pages, utility and program terms, and official documents. Each story lists its sources with dates.
Can you write about rebates on my website?
Yes, as dated pages linking to the program administrator. We explain conditions and tell customers to confirm, rather than promising a rebate.
Do you work with contractors outside BC and Ontario?
Yes, in all 10 provinces and the three territories. Each region has its own page explaining local programs and regulators.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Seven days, no credit card: a marketing audit, website performance check, SEO analysis and competitor benchmarking.
About the newsroom
The short answer: sourced facts first, labelled analysis second.
Every story in our newsroom starts from a document we loaded and read. That might be a utility's rebate page, a provincial guidance page, a federal enforcement notice or a technical memo. We give the source's own date, so a 2019 statement stays dated 2019 even when we explain it in 2026. Where there is no single announcement to report, we write an explainer and date it to the day we checked. Our view of what a change means for contractors always sits under a heading marked "Analysis", so you can read the facts on their own if you prefer.
About price and value
The short answer: compare the plan with your gross profit per job.
Price only makes sense next to what a job is worth to you. If an average water heater replacement adds $900 of gross profit, a plan that brings in five extra jobs a month more than covers the Starter fee. If your crew is already full, more marketing will not help until capacity grows. We would rather tell you that than sell you a plan you cannot use. The pricing page has the full table and a worked example.
About contracts and ownership
The short answer: no lock-in, and your accounts stay yours.
Contractors who have been burned by an agency usually describe the same problems: accounts held in the agency's name, unclear reporting, and long contracts. We work the other way. Your website content, Google Business Profile and ad accounts are in your name. Reports show calls and booked jobs. There is no lock-in, and any terms such as notice periods are confirmed in writing in your proposal.
About results
The short answer: real, named, checkable, and not a promise.
Our results page lists outcomes such as CombiBoiler.ca reaching 300% ROI with 300+ monthly leads, and HVACDeal.ca generating 500+ leads at a 12:1 ROI. These are results from our HVAC work, where water heating is part of the market. Each client is linked so you can see the business yourself. They show what the methods achieved for those companies; they do not predict what yours will achieve.
About timelines
The short answer: weeks for paid search, months for SEO.
A typical engagement begins with the free trial and audit in the first week. Paid search campaigns can usually be live within two to three weeks, and urgent-call results show soon after if your phone is answered and your crew has room. Local SEO and content take longer: profile fixes can help within weeks, but ranking gains on competitive searches generally build over several months. Heat pump water heater and rental-conversion campaigns sit in between, because the buyers themselves take time to decide. We set expectations for each at the start and report monthly against them.
About the "not a contractor" line
The short answer: it is there so nobody is confused.
You will see us say on almost every page that we are not a contractor. That is deliberate. Homeowners sometimes find a newsroom about water heaters and assume we install them. We do not, and we would rather send them to a licensed local company, ideally one of our clients, than leave them guessing.
Still have a question?
The short answer: call, text or email.
If your question is not here, reach us through the contact page. Tell us your company name, where you work and what you would like to know, and we will answer directly. You can also browse our services to see how each one works.
